This song “May It Be” is about really trying to put God first for at least one full day. The narrative is true and was written from the heart.

Narrative – May It Be

For a long time after I was saved, I felt as though I did not need to change. I was a good person. Never hurt anybody.

I’m not sure why, but suddenly one night I came to realize how much I needed to change. God revealed to me my sinful way of anger, envy, and lack of giving glory to God.

So I told the Lord “Tomorrow, I will live for you”. I didn’t want to promise more than I could do. So I started small with just one day.

When I told the Lord that, I came up with this song and sang it all night.

The next day I truly did try to live that day all for him, but I failed. Just couldn’t do it. And the Lord gently told me not to be so proud.

The lead sheet includes beginner level guitar chords. It was written quite a while ago in younger years. I scanned the original lead sheet from when it was first written, so please excuse if not high quality. The lyrics are very readable on a separate PDF below.
