This song “Did You See Him?” is a very powerful song that can change your views about God. And the narrative is a real and true story that just may transform your life.
Narrative – Did You See Him?
I prayed leisurely and told the Lord; since my life had become so busy, I needed to take a 3 to 6 month break from attending church. But I would still read the Bible and pray.
God instantly spoke to me and simply asked, “What if I was there in person? What if I was a human being and came through your town and visited your church? Would you come to church then? How would you feel if you missed it?
I suddenly actually felt that I had missed it. It hurt horribly and I sobbed uncontrollably. This song appeared in my head in an instant. I wrote the entire song down with no effort.
The following Sunday, I went to church. During the middle of a praise song, the pastor came to the microphone and interrupted us. He apologized for the interruption but the Lord had just instructed him at that moment to ask the people this question.
He said, “The Lord asks you, what if I were here in person? What if I was actually walking down this isle? Would you behave differently?” Then he paused and said, “no that’s not right….. Would you come to church then if you otherwise wouldn’t?” Then he turned around and we continued singing praise songs.
After praise time was over, the pastor said, “the Lord wants you to know that he IS here, and he doesn’t want you to miss it!”
The lead sheet includes beginner level guitar chords. It was written quite a while ago in younger years. I scanned the original lead sheet from when it was first written, so please excuse if not high quality. The lyrics are very readable on a separate PDF below.
An audio of the song is also included. However, it is not a professional recording. Just me and my guitar with my limited talents recorded several years ago on to a cassette tape. Then converted to a MP3 file for this website.
