Praying with Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me & Find Rest

Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Thank you Lord, that there is no burden that will stress you out or be too hard for you to carry.  I come to you with all my trials and lay them at your feet.   I don’t want this stress that my burdens are causing.  Please walk with me through them.  You never lead me wrong.  I welcome the peace of just knowing you are with me.  And that you care for me and give me rest.

All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me,

I must admit I did not understand what “yoke” meant, so I looked up its synonyms.  Some synonyms are join, pair, unite, team, and bind.  So, I believe you were saying to let you into my heart and live in me.  When I do that, you are a part of me and you can lead me and teach me.  I do so much want to learn from you.  Only you are all knowing.  Please go through everything I have to face with me and teach me.

because I am gentle and humble in heart,

Even when you correct me or turn my direction, you are gentle.  I never experience negativity from you.   You don’t find fault or get angry.   No matter how far I fall away, you are always there with open arms to bring me back.  Even when I went through that bad stage of being angry at you, you did not respond to my anger in a hard way.  You were even gentle and patient with me then.   You are indeed gentle and humble in heart.

and you will find rest for yourselves.

Following you does bring me rest.  It’s easy when you know that who you are following only wants good for you.  And knowing you will never lie, never be wrong, and never will lead the wrong way gives my soul rest.

For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

It’s easy to follow you and trust you.  You are not demanding.  Even your disciplines are gentle.  Having you live in my heart does perfectly give me rest.  Thank you Jesus, for being so patient and gentle.  And for caring for me so strongly, yet so softly.  I’m so grateful that I find rest in you.

It is a privilege to pray in that wonderfully restful name of Jesus.  Amen.
