This song “I Lift” is a lovely song lifting a person up to God in prayer. The narrative is true and gives testimony of how God just gave this song while in prayer. And how later hearing this person’s testimony.

Narrative – I Lift

I was watching a Christian station on T.V. and a group of people were talking. One of them was bragging that his teenage daughter was so good.

My children were teenagers at that time and I was not having such an easy time with them. To make myself feel better, I said to myself out loud “I bet this daughter of his isn’t really all that good”.

God instantly spoke to me and told me to pray for his daughter. I intently started praying for her and my prayer turned into this song. I sang it over and over praying for this teenage girl I did not know anything about.

A few years later after this teenage girl had become an adult, I heard her give a testimony. She explained how she became really rebellious as a teenager and stopped serving the Lord for a while. But later she came back to the Lord and is now a missionary.

The lead sheets include guitar chords. It was written quite a while ago in younger years. I scanned the original lead sheet from when it was first written, so please excuse if not high quality. The lyrics are very readable on a separate PDF below.
