It’s so easy to want to talk bad about someone. When someone upsets or irritates you, you want to talk about it. Get it out of your system and then maybe you can let it go. But God used Apostle Paul to tell us if we don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. Of course if someone is doing something that could cause harm, we should tell someone in a position to take care of it. But if no harm is being caused, just keep it to yourself. Or better yet, talk to Jesus about it. Vent away to God. He will never get tired of your voice. And he can give you peace about it or maybe fix a situation for you.

When we talk bad about a person, we are giving someone else negative information they may not have had before. And what is that person supposed to do with this negative information? There is no good outcome from this.

So Memorize Ephesians 4:29. When you feel the urge to talk bad about someone, recite this verse to yourself. Be reminded to only talk to Jesus about it. And if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

Start by reading the verse out loud. Think about how this verse relates to your life. Try to fully understand the verse’s meaning. Pray about it.

Repeat the verse over again as many times as needed to be able to memorize them. Some people memorize better if they write it down. Use whatever method works for you.

Keep going back to this verse periodically to refresh your memory.
