God will generously give you wisdom if you ask him for it. James 1:5 is not talking about wisdom that will give you worldly pleasure. This verse is talking about knowing God’s will, so you can obey and follow Jesus. So if you ask God what he wants you to do, he will get an answer to you somehow.
Start by reading the verse out loud. Think about how it relates to your life. Try to fully understand its meaning. Pray about what this verse means to you.
Repeat the verse over again as many times as needed to be able to memorize it. Some people memorize better if they write it down. Use whatever method works for you.
Keep going back to this verse periodically to refresh your memory.
