Songs About God – What Do I Tell Them?
This song “What Do I Tell Them?” is about responding to people who ask about God in our lives. The narrative is true and gives testimony of how good the Lord is.
Narrative – What Do I Tell Them?
Someone at work asked me why my faith in God was so strong. I had such a horrible week and felt so down that my answer was one of denying having strong faith. And I did not feel very faithful at all at that time.
I later realized what an awful answer that was. It was a perfect opportunity to testify. So I prayed and repented though admitting to God that even if I had the opportunity again, I just didn’t have anything to testify about. Seemed at that time everything was going wrong and God was not there.
The next Sunday I went to a new church. The pastor spoke to me after the service and asked me how I was saved. I told him how and he said in response “What a testimony!”. He asked me several more questions about what God had done in my life and with every answer he said “What a testimony!”. He seemed genuinely amazed.
I went home and admitted to the Lord that I was wrong and I had a lot to testify about. Right then, this song just popped into my head. I easily wrote the entire song down.
The lead sheets include guitar chords. It was written quite a while ago in younger years. I scanned the original lead sheet from when it was first written, so please excuse if not high quality. The lyrics are very readable on a separate PDF below.
See links below. Lead Sheets have JPEG & PDF Copy available.
