Weekly Challenge – Abide in Christ
The challenge for this week is “Abide in Christ”.
Yearly Series:
This is part of a yearly series “Weekly Challenges to Get Closer to God”. There are 26 challenges for 1 year. You prayerfully concentrate on 1 task for 1 week (every other week) and see what happens.
If Christian, Must Abide in Christ:
If we say we are a Christian, we should abide in Christ. We are the branches and Jesus is the vine. Branches cannot survive without the vine. If Jesus does not live in our hearts, then our branch would die and we would be separated from God.
Jesus must be a living part of our lives. He must be our center, our core. Our lives must revolve around him. We must abide in him. Do you really abide in Christ? It’s not an easy thing to do. But maybe if we really try for one week, we may discover we are more able than we thought.
Challenge:
So for one week, let’s put ourself to the side and put Christ in the center. Prayerfully abide in Christ wholeheartedly for one week and see what happens. See how you get closer to God.
Bible Verses about Abiding in Christ:
Here are some Bible verses to help motivate you.
John 15:4-9 Abide in me, as I also abide in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must abide in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you abide in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. And If you do not abide, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you abide in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.
Colossians 2:6-7 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
