Weekly Challenge – Pray for Government Leaders & Your Superiors

The challenge for this week is “Pray for Government Leaders & Your Superiors”.

This is part of a yearly series “Weekly Challenges to Get Closer to God”.  There are 26 challenges for 1 year. You prayerfully concentrate on 1 task for 1 week (every other week) and see what happens.

No matter how you feel about your government leaders or your superiors, God wants us to honor and pray for them.  Even if you have strong feelings about how their decisions or leadership has affected your life.  The Lord has instructed us to pray for and honor all authority.

God knows every government official and every supervisor that exists.  Nothing has slipped by him.   The Lord has even placed them all in their position.  They are not in their positions because of a vote or promotion.  God put them there (See Romans 13:1 below).

So for one week, pray (from your heart) for your government leaders and superiors as many times as you can.   Pray for good things – blessings, wisdom, salvation.   Do this for one week and see what happens.    See how you get closer to God.

Here are some Bible verses to help motivate you.

1 Timothy 2:1-3  I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.   This is good, and pleases God our Savior

Romans 13:1   Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Proverbs 21:1    In the LORD’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him.

1 Peter 2:13-17  Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.  For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.   Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.   Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.

Share this with others.  Leave a comment on the website and share on social media.  Help others get closer to God!
