Weekly Challenge – Love Your Neighbors as Yourself

The challenge for this week is “Love Your Neighbors as Yourself”.

Yearly Series:

This is part of a yearly series “Weekly Challenges to Get Closer to God”.  There are 26 challenges for 1 year. So, you prayerfully concentrate on 1 task for 1 week (every other week) and see what happens.

Neighbors are All People Around You:

We should love our neighbors as ourselves.  Jesus taught us who are neighbors are in “The Good Samaritan parable – Luke 10:25-37”.  Your neighbors are not just those living next to you.  They are people who are around you no matter where you are.  They can be total strangers or close friends.

Love Your Neighbors as Yourself:

So we are to love people around us just like we love ourselves.  But is that even possible?   It’s difficult for sure.   It may not be something you can do without help from the Holy Spirit.

Challenge:

Let’s give it a try.  Prayerfully and honestly really try to love all the people around you as you love yourself for one week and see what happens.   See how it brings you closer to God.

Bible Verses About Loving Your Neighbors as Yourself:

Here are some Bible verses to motivate you.

Leviticus 19:18  “ ‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

Galatians 5:14   For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Mark 12:30-31  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

James 2:8   If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.
