Weekly Challenge – Be Patient With Everyone

The challenge for this week is “Be Patient With Everyone”.

Yearly Series:

This is part of a yearly series “Weekly Challenges to Get Closer to God”.  There are 26 challenges for 1 year. You prayerfully concentrate on 1 task for 1 week (every other week) and see what happens.

Being Patient with Everyone:

Patience is a beautiful thing, but can be difficult.   Think back on how patient Jesus has been with you.  That’s how we should be with everyone.  Yes, everyone.  Even that person that continually drives you crazy.  Or that slow driver ahead of you.  God is part of “everyone” also.  We must wait patiently on the Lord. 

Want Immediate Gratification:

We can tend to want immediate gratification and not have to wait.  But if we got everything we wanted (from people or from God) when we wanted it, it could turn us away from God.  We could feel like we don’t need God because we already have everything we want.  Or we could turn out like King Solomon (see The Life of King Solomon).  God gave Solomon everything he could possibly want, yet he turned and worshiped his foreign wives’ Gods.

Wait Patiently:

So don’t stress out over not seeing what you want to happen.  Be patient.  With Everyone.  Ask the Lord to help you in weak moments.  Allow the Holy Spirit to calm you.

Challenge:

Try practicing being patient with everyone for one week and see what happens.

Here are some Bible verses to motivate you.

1 Thessalonians 5:14  And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

Colossians 3:12   Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

1 Corinthians 13:4   Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

Proverbs 14:29   Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.

Romans 8:25   But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
