Weekly Challenge – Read and Study the Bible
The challenge for this week is “Read and Study the Bible”.
Yearly Series:
This is part of a yearly series “Weekly Challenges to Get Closer to God”. There are 26 challenges for 1 year. You prayerfully concentrate on 1 task for 1 week (every other week) and see what happens.
Bible is a Living Word:
If we want to be close to God, we need to read and study the Bible. The Bible is not just a book to entertain us. It is the living word of God. You can never read it too many times. Each time it touches you in a different way. One day a verse may mean one thing and another day the same verse means something else.
The Bible is truly a living word. God speaks to us through it. We receive direction and wisdom from the Bible. So read it! With technology today, most people have no reason not to. You can upload the Bible on your smart phone and you don’t even have to read. The app will read it to you. If you are able to read this article, you are able to read and study the Bible.
Read Bible for Yourself:
Don’t depend on your pastor or priest to tell you what’s in the Bible. Read it for yourself so God can personally touch you and bless you.
Challenge:
So really try to read the Bible continually for one week and see what happens. See how it brings you closer to God.
Here are some Bible verses to motivate you.
Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
Romans 15:4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
