A Prayer for Human Trafficking

A Prayer for Human Trafficking

Dear Lord,

I come to you in prayer with a desperate, horrific crisis of human trafficking all around the world.

Through documentaries, reality crime shows, news broadcasts, and seminars; I have learned that human trafficking is ramped in our world.  Dreadful things are happening to our children, teens, and young adults.

There are many kinds of human trafficking, and they are all terrible.   But sex trafficking has got to be the worst and appears to be the broader problem.  You have made it very clear in your Holy Bible that sex is sacred (Scriptures 1 – sexual sin).  In the time of Moses, if someone committed a sexual sin, they were to be put to death.  In Revelation 14, the 144,000 men, who will be on Earth to turn people to Jesus during that horrible time of tribulation, must be virgins.   Sexual relations would defile them.

Social media is playing a big role, tricking our youth into meeting up with traffickers (thinking they’re meeting a friend their own age).  Oftentimes, they are taken to a motel and chained to a bed.  The traffickers bring in one client after another to sexually assault them.  Sometimes the person pretending to be a friend their own age does the sexual assault.  Pedophiles use social media to find victims.

Please help us with this social media tool that traffickers and pedophiles are using.  A teen can come from a very good home and have good caring parents, but still fall in the hands of abusers.   It’s getting out of hand.

Another horrible method traffickers use is going to poor countries where young people don’t have career opportunities.  They offer these vulnerable young people jobs and tell them they will take them to a more prosperous country.  But, they don’t tell them they will be locked in a motel room and are not ever allowed to leave.  Neither do they tell them they will have one customer after another all day and all night long sexually assaulting them.  They don’t tell them that their other employees (victims) have a super high suicide rate.

And, they don’t tell them that every now and then they take these girls off birth control because their customers like the women big.  These poor girls have many more customers in their last months of pregnancy than usual.  They give childbirth in their motel room and the traffickers immediately take the baby away.   I shutter to think what happens to those babies.  Then they put that young mother right back to work.

In some countries, Children are just taken off the streets.  They are put in a room with no windows and a padlock on the outside.  They are treated like animals.

Sometimes families are so poor that they can’t feed all their children, so they sell some of their children to traffickers.  These children can be as young as four years old.  Sadly, traffickers have no problem finding customers that will pay to rape a 4 year old.

Often times the traffickers give their victims drugs that they get addicted to.   The victims become desperate and will do anything for their next fix.

A lot of the time it doesn’t start so dramatic and the victims don’t even know that they are being trafficked.  Traffickers pretend to be their boyfriend and tell them they love them.  Maybe they’re actually good to them for a while gaining their trust.  Then they move them away from their family and friends to isolate them.  They ask the victim to do this one favor, only one time they promise.   Then another favor, then another.  Eventually, the victim is being pimped out and doesn’t actually realize it.  They get her (or him) addicted to drugs and gain control over them.   Therefore, they are trapped and there is no seeable way out.

Some people believe this kind of thing doesn’t happen in countries like the United States, but it does.  And in a big way.  It is everywhere.   All around the world.  Nowhere is safe.  It happens to girls much more often than boys, but it does happen to boys also.

Lord, I pray for the paying customers.  If there weren’t paying customers, we wouldn’t have this problem.  They are as guilty as the traffickers.  Convict their hearts, Lord. May they see their little sister or daughter in the faces of their victims.  May they not be able to sleep at night.  Fill them with your conviction of their guilt.  Flood their minds with other things that will distract them away.   Get them help to overcome these temptations and strongholds.  Put up roadblocks every time they attempt to commit these horrific deeds.   I pray your Holy Spirit would touch them so powerfully that they would turn their hearts to follow you and they would be saved.

Raise more organizations to work with law enforcement to fight this ugly battle.  Protect them as they enter this dangerous endeavor.  May these organizations and law enforcements have wisdom on how to fight and have the strength to carry it out.   Put them at the right place at the right time.  I pray that you would give them peace, for fighting this must be extremely stressful and full of despair.

I pray for the traffickers.  These people have no regard for human life.  Lord, change their hearts of stone to hearts of flesh (Scriptures 2 – Change Hearts).  Only you can change a person’s heart.  Put your Holy Spirit in them and convict them heavily.  Confuse them so they make mistakes and get caught and incarcerated.  Do whatever you need to do to stop them and take them out of society.

Mostly, I pray for the victims.  Their suffering is so immense.  Rescue them Lord.  Give them an escape route.  Open doors of opportunities to live a better life.   May they have somewhere to go and people to help them after they escape from the hands of their traffickers.  Heal them physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.  Fill them with your peace above all understanding.

Lord I pray that you would intercede when a youth goes to do something that would put themselves in harm’s way.  Give parents wisdom.  Protect the vulnerable, for there are many teens out there that don’t have good role models or protective parents.

This is too big to fight alone.  We desperately need your help Lord.

Thank you for hearing this prayer.  And thank you in advance for all the ways you are going to help in this horrific matter of human trafficking.

I pray in that powerful and sweet name of Jesus, my Lord and savior.  Amen.
